About Legamoney financial calculators

Legamoney calculators exist for one reason: to turn a financial question you can describe in a sentence into a number you can act on. Each tool runs entirely in your browser, needs no account, and stores nothing. You type the figures you already know — a balance, a rate, a term — and the result updates as you go.

The maths behind each calculator is standard and documented on the page itself. Amortising loans use the constant-payment formula that lenders use for mortgages, car finance and personal loans. Growth tools apply compound interest at the frequency you choose and add contributions on the same schedule. Where a tool has to make an assumption — that a rate holds steady, that payments never miss — the page says so next to the result rather than hiding it in the footnotes.

What these tools cannot do matters just as much. A calculator does not know your credit file, the fees a particular lender charges, the tax treatment of your account, or how an insurer prices your risk. Real quotes routinely differ from a modelled figure once arrangement fees, insurance requirements, escrow, early repayment charges and local taxes are applied. Treat every output as an estimate for comparison and planning, not as an offer or a promise.

Use the results the way an analyst would: run the same scenario twice with different assumptions and pay attention to the gap between them. That gap — not the single headline number — is the useful part. When a decision is large or irreversible, confirm the figures with the lender, provider or a qualified professional before you sign anything. Legamoney publishes information, not financial advice.
