Legamoney Investing & Retirement Desk
Editorial desk — saving, investing, retirement and tax
The Investing & Retirement Desk handles compounding, contribution limits, withdrawal rules, and the tax treatment that determines how much of a return a saver keeps. Contribution and deduction figures come from the IRS, claiming ages and benefit rules from the Social Security Administration, and investor protections from the SEC's own investor education material. The desk writes about mechanics — how a Roth conversion is taxed, what a 4% withdrawal assumption does and does not promise — and never about which security to buy. Legamoney is not an investment adviser and receives nothing from any fund or brokerage.

How we verify what we publish
- 01Contribution limits, income phase-outs and tax brackets are taken from IRS publications for the stated year.
- 02Benefit and claiming rules are checked against the Social Security Administration before publication.
- 03Projections state their assumptions in the open — return rate, inflation, contribution growth — and label them as assumptions.
- 04No security, fund or provider is recommended, and no page carries an affiliate arrangement.
- 05Every projection carries the reminder that past returns do not fix future ones.
